Members that attend all of the above meetings* will have earned 16 credits and be eligible for accreditation. The final step is to submit the required documentation and pay the $199 processing fee.

Companies must demonstrate they have operated a legitimate business . Documentation requirements serve as a means to establish that the company is operating legally and ethically.

PDCA Members that attend all scheduled Chapter Meetings in 2010 along with the Saturday Training Blast in August will earn 16 credits, enough to be eligible for accreditation. You have no enrollment forms to complete, individual course fees to pay or tests to take. We take care of everything. You simply show up and learn!

Upon course completion, you have 2-years to submit the required business documents and pay the $199 processing fee to receive accreditation.

Marketing Strategy I

▪ You will learn why a “Brand Awareness” is linked to sales leadership in any category.
▪ Examine media solutions that are right for your business and prioritize them for cost effectiveness.
▪ Discover how not to, “box yourself,” in when branding your companies products and servers.
▪ Branding and Personification will help you identify the attributes that shape the perceptions of your brand personality
▪ You will learn to visually plot your product and your competitors’ product or service positions.
▪ Insightful methodologies are defined giving you ways to improve information extraction, organization and ideation techniques.
▪ You will learn to build a comprehensive cornerstone-marketing communications document allowing you to plot your marketing success.

Coatings Technology

▪ Valuable and essential knowledge of coatings is provided in this course through topics that range from chemical to color.
▪ This course begins with the definition of coatings and follows with the breakdown of the materials used in paint.
▪ Clear explanations of binders and polymers are provided for a real understanding of adhesive components.
▪ Reaction types and classification of binders are incorporated in this expert level analysis of coating technology.
▪ You will learn about the chemical reactions of paint as identified in the description of functional pigments and their reaction in coatings

Paint Application

▪ You will learn the facts about equipment, application methods and procedures.
▪ The various classifications of brushes and rollers are covered including guidance and methods for application in the unlimited situations where they are used.
▪ Principles of spray painting atomization can be broken down into 4 basic types and are comprehensively reviewed in this course.
▪ Each spray system is identified and examined for its differences and unique characteristics when spraying.

Color

▪ This course highlights and defines the three essential elements of the phenomenon called color.
▪ The source of color is identified and discussed as it relates to reflectivity.
▪ Color theory is introduced and explored together with the three vital dimensions of color.
▪ You will learn the systems of color measurement as they relates to hue, value and chroma.
▪ Highly essential information is provided covering pigments and tint as methods to create stock and custom colors.

Environmental Considerations

▪ Critical knowledge of materials and equipment is provided here as they relate to their impact on our air, land, and water.
▪ Standards organizations in support of "Green" technologies in application are presented in detail for you in this course.
▪ "Green Papers" are presented to assist you in choosing the proper paint & coating products and systems for the appropriate use.
▪ You will learn about products that should be chosen, not just for their environmental impact level, but with consideration for product performance

Paint Types & Manufacturers

▪ This course provides you with the classifications of paint and the specific applications for each.
▪ The how and why of coatings made in batches is highlighted in this course with clear explanations of what is written on a "batch card", and the importance of a batch number to a contractor.
▪ In depth coverage is applied to the different types of equipment that manufacturers use to mix the paints.
▪ Quality control is examined and the details of tests and procedures throughout the entire paint and coating production will be explained.
▪ Expert and easy to follow specifications and classifications of primers are offered here as well.

Safety

▪ This course will assist you in providing the appropriate care that must be exercised by anyone handling, storing, transporting, and especially using coating products.
▪ You will learn to identify the health effects of long or chronic over-exposure to organic solvents.
▪ Strict attention is paid to the specialized equipment that must be used for both human and environmental health.
▪ Maintenance is outlined as a key method to ensure safety
▪ The Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) is reviewed and its impacts defined for you in this course.
▪ Legislation and regulations are examined as they apply to the labeling, documentation, container types and placarding of vehicles.

Basic Specifications

▪ This course starts off with a clear definition of specifications
▪ A set of tests are outlined to identify, determine, and confirm the quality of a coating.
▪ Clear accurate descriptions are provided for contracting when dealing with materials, products or services.
▪ Workmanship for an acceptable product is reviewed to help you with success in contracting.
▪ The purpose of a 'Painting' specifications are defined to assist you in avoiding delays and disputes and ensure completion of the work.
▪ This course will help you avoid poorly written or incomplete specifications can result in bidding problems, bids from unqualified contractors unrealistic bids - too high or too low, alternative products, and alternative methods & systems.

Industry Standards

▪ This course and the corresponding test are required for PDCA Accreditation
▪ Standards in this course are identified as method to achieve consistency from day to day.
▪ You will learn why standards clearly relay all the necessary details and keep everyone on the same page
▪ You will have access to examples that highlight the downside where a good person can get 'taken' because no standard existed or was used.
▪ This module will contain 7 types of industry standards including: Gypsum Wallboard Finishing Standards, PDCA Standards, Gloss Level Standards, Green Performance Standards, Product Standards, Repaint Surface Preparation Standards, Surface Preparation Standards

September 14 Chapter Meeting
Managing for High Performance

▪ Discover a rigorous, disciplined process for managing the performance of people is a critical part of every manager’s job
▪ Realize how to ensure the “right” talent is in place and cover how setting individual goals linked to business strategy and priorities is a key for success.
▪ Examine how weaving company development into goals is a key way grow real company talent.
